SANTA FE PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKSHOP - March 24th-29th, 2019
How can you make a good image great? It’s all about improving the lighting. Luckily, you aren’t at the mercy of your environment when it comes to lighting. You are in control, and it isn’t as hard as you think! In this five-day workshop, Kevin Kubota shares tips and techniques for creating beautiful light anywhere using simple, inexpensive tools and minimal set-up and complication.
During live demos, we address essential lighting skills, and you discover which tools are worth their weight in your camera bag. By exploring the ways that shadows can add depth, mood, and interest to images, we learn to balance flash and ambient light exposures, resulting in expert portrait lighting in any conditions. Kevin also shows us how to get the most from the speedlight, a common yet often misunderstood—and underestimated!—lighting tool.
Each day we spend time in the classroom reviewing our images from the previous day; then Kevin introduces new techniques. The remainder of the day we venture out into the inspiring Santa Fe area for portrait sessions with models and people we encounter, employing the composition and posing strategies that present subjects in their best light.
As you practice and perfect these basic natural and artificial lighting techniques, you find yourself ready to take on any portrait situation with confidence—and create beautiful, dramatic images anywhere.
