Photoshop Action Installation

Install the Action File in Photoshop:
  1. Open your Adobe® Photoshop® application.
  2. Go to Window > Actions to open the Actions palette.
  3. Click on the top right menu icon.
  4. Select Load Actions...
  5. Navigate to the Kubota actions pak folder and select the file with extension .atn
  6. Click Open.
or
  1. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the downloaded Kubota actions pak file.
  2. Unzip/Extract if needed.
  3. Open the folder to view contents.
  4. Double-click on the action file ending with extension .atn.
The action file is now loaded into Photoshop's Actions palette.


Install the Preset Files in Photoshop CS2 - CC2019:
  1. Close your Adobe® Photoshop® application.
  2. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to Photoshop’s presets folder.
    Mac: Applications > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets
    Windows: C Drive > Program Files or Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets
  3. Open a second Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the Kubota actions pak folder.
  4. Move these Kubota presets folders into their corresponding Photoshop’s Presets folders.
    •  Select the Kubota Brushes folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Brushes folder
    • Select the Kubota Custom Shapes folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Custom Shapes folder
    •  Select the Kubota Scripts folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Scripts folder
    •  Select the Kubota Tools folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Tools folder
  5. Open your Adobe® Photoshop® application. Your action and preset files are ready.


Install the Preset Files in Photoshop CC2020:
  1. Close your Adobe® Photoshop® application.
  2. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to Photoshop’s presets folder.
    Mac: Applications > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets
    Windows: C Drive > Program Files or Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets

  3. Open a second Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the Kubota actions pak folder.
  4. Move these Kubota presets folders into their corresponding Photoshop’s Presets folders.
    •  Select the Kubota Brushes folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Brushes folder
    • Select the Kubota Scripts folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Scripts folder
    • Select the Kubota Tools folder and move into Photoshop > Presets > Tools folder

  5. Open a third Finder or File Explorer window, and navigate to the Adobe Photoshop Settings folder.
    Mac: Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop Settings
    Windows: C Drive > Users > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop > Adobe Photoshop Settings
  6. Move the Kubota presets folder into Photoshop’s Settings folders.
    • Select the Kubota Custom Shapes folder and move into the appropriate Settings folder above.
  7. Close all Finder or File Explorer windows.
  8. Open your Adobe® Photoshop® application.
Your action and preset files are ready.

Note: If you are installing more than one of the Kubota action bundles listed below, you only need to follow the preset installation steps once as all of these use the same presets.

Install the Action File in Photoshop:
  1. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the downloaded Kubota Sloppy Borders pak file.
  2. Unzip/Extract if needed.
  3. Double-click on the action file ending with extension .atn.
The action file is now loaded into Photoshop's Actions palette.


Install the Preset and Template Files in Photoshop CS2 - CC2019:
  1. Close Photoshop.
  2. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to Photoshop’s presets folder.
    Mac: Applications > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets
    Windows: C Drive > Program Files or Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets
  3. Open a second Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the Kubota Sloppy Border pak folder.
  4. Copy or Move the Kubota Sloppy Scripts folder into Photoshop > Presets > Scripts folder.
  5. Copy or Move the Kubota Sloppy Borders Templates folder into Photoshop (your version).
  6. Open Photoshop
Your action, preset, and border files are ready.


Kubota Sloppy Border Single Setup:
  1. In Photoshop, go to Window > Actions.
  2. Open the action steps by clicking on the triangle to the left of the folder name, Sloppy Border Single Setup.
  3. Select the Sloppy Sloppy Border Single Set Up action and click on the Play button at the bottom of the Actions palette.
  4. Read the information on the next window and click Continue.
  5. Read and follow the steps on the next window and click Stop.
  6. Click on the Record button at the bottom of the Actions palette.
  7. Go to File > Scripts > Sloppy Border Single.
  8. On the next window, navigate to:
    Mac: Applications > Adobe® Photoshop® (your version) > Kubota Sloppy Borders Templates
    Windows: C Drive > Program Files > Adobe® > Adobe® Photoshop® your version) > Kubota Sloppy Borders
  9. Select one the borders within the Kubota Sloppy Borders Templates folder and click Open.
  10. On the next window, confirm the border selection by clicking Continue.
  11. Click on the Stop button at the bottom of the Actions palette to stop recording.
Follow the same RECORD AND RUN SCRIPT steps with the following:
  • Action Name: Sloppy Batch Script set up
  • Script Name: Sloppy Batch

  • Action Name: Sloppy Batch Script set up 4x6
  • Script Name: Sloppy Batch 4x6


Install the Kubota Textures Earth and Industrial action, brushes & scripts, and texture files to successfully run and apply the textures.

Install the Action File in Photoshop:
  1. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the downloaded Kubota Textures pak file.
  2. Unzip/Extract if needed.
  3. Double-click on the action file ending with extension .atn.
The action file is now loaded into Photoshop's Actions palette.


Install the Brushes & Scripts Files in Photoshop CS2 - CC2019:
  1. Close Photoshop.
  2. Open a Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to Photoshop’s presets folder.
    Mac: Applications > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets
    Windows: C Drive > Program Files or Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop (your version) > Presets.
  3. Open a second Finder or File Explorer window and navigate to the Kubota Sloppy Border pak folder.
  4. Copy or Move the Kubota Texture Brushes & Scripts folder into Photoshop > Presets folder.
  5. Copy or Move the Kubota Textures Earth or Industrial folder into your Photoshop (your version) folder.
  6. Open Photoshop
Your action, brushes & scripts, and texture files are ready.


Run the Texture Script:
  1. Open an image you wish to enhance.
  2. Go to File > Scripts > Kubota Texture Runner 15.
  3. On the next window, navigate to the Kubota Texture Earth folder within your Photoshop folder.
Mac:
    Applications > Adobe Photoshop (your version)

Windows:
    C Drive > Program Files or Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop (your version)
  1. Select the texture and click on Open.
  2. The script will place the texture over your image at the default opacity setting of 80% in Overlay mode. It will create a mask layer and select the proper brush so you can start painting away texture if desired.





Batch processing is an essential way to speed up your workflow when you want to make the same adjustments on multiple images. Any Kubota actions can be used in a batch if they don’t have any steps that require you to interact with them (like adjusting the gaussian blur or changing the size of the selection, etc.).

Set Up
  1. Open your Adobe® Photoshop® application.
  2. Go to Window > Actions to open the Actions palette.
  3. Click on the top right corner of the Actions palette to view the menu options and select New Set...
  4. Name this new set My Batching Actions or another name of your choice.
  5. Select the action you want to batch with.
  6. Click on the top right corner of the Actions palette to view the menu options and select Duplicate.
  7. Select the duplicated action and drag it underneath your My Batching Actions set.
    To avoid losing changes made to My Batching Actions set in the event of an unexpected computer or Photoshop shutdown, we recommend saving after each edit session.
  8. Select the My Batching Actions set.
  9. Click on the top right corner of the Actions palette to view the menu options and select Save Actions... and choose a save to location.
  10. Select the action you want to batch within My Batching Actions set and open the steps by clicking on the triangle to the left of the action name.
  11. Select the last step within that action.
  12. Click on the top right corner of the Actions palette to view the menu options and select Insert Menu Item.
  13. Go to Layer > Flatten Image. Click Ok.
  14. Open any image.
  15. Flatten image - Layer > Flatten Image
  16. Click the Record button and go to File > Save As.
    Select JPG as file format and Desktop for location in the next window.
  17. Choose the Image Quality you prefer and Baseline Optimized.
  18. Click Ok and stop recording.
  19. Close the image without saving any changes.
  20. Save My Batching Actions set.


Run Batch
    1. Go to File > Automate > Batch.
    2. Select options as shown on the graphic below.
    3. Click OK to proceed.


Batch Process Window



Before running the logo placer effect, you must first record the location of your logo.

Set Up Your Logo:
  1. Open Photoshop.
  2. Go to Window > Actions to make the Actions palette visible.
  3. Locate and expand the set Kubota set-up Actions
  4. Select Open Logo.
  5. Click on the Record icon at the bottom of the Actions palette.
  6. Go to File > Open.
  7. Navigate to and select your logo file.
  8. Click on the Open button.
  9. Click on the Stop icon at the bottom of the Actions palette.
  10. Close the logo file.
Now you can place the logo on future images by simply running any of the three logo placer Actions.

Bonus Info: You can record as many logos as you want into this area. Then select which one you want to run by turning the check mark to the left of the Action Open step on or off. Just be sure to only have one step on at a time.


The Eyes and Teeth effect creates facial enhancement layers masks for you. Just step through each layer, paint where desired on the corresponding layer mask, and then adjust the opacity of the layer as needed.

Make Enhacements:
  1. Open an image.
  2. Play the Eyes and Teeth Enhance action.
  3. Go to Window > Layers to open the layers palette.
  4. Select the eyes brighten layer mask.
  5. Adjust the opacity of the layer if needed.
  6. Start painting over the whites of the eyes to brighten them up.
  7. Select the teeth brighten layer mask.
  8. Start painting over the teeth to brighten them up.
  9. Adjust the opacity of the layer if needed.
  10. Select the Desaturate eyes and teeth layer mask.
  11. Start painting over the red from the eyes and ellow from teeth.
  12. Adjust the opacity of the layer if needed.
  13. Select the darken shadows layer mask in the EyeLiner darken set.
  14. Paint around the eye lashes, the outside of the iris, and the eye brows to deepen the darker areas


Set Up
  1. Play the Portrait setup step 1 action and follow the instructions to make a rough selection around the area of your image you want to retouch using the lasso tool.
  2. On the base image, use the healing brush to remove blemishes that you want eliminated.
  3. Play the Portrait setup step 2 action. A new group of layers will be created on your layers palette.

Make Adjustments on the Portrait setup step 2 Layers:
  • Retouch layer: Use the healing brush to minimize wrinkles, dark circles, etc.. Adjust the opacity of that layer to fade the effect without removing them completely.
  • Light skin powder layer: Use a soft-edged paint brush, sample skin color and paint areas to make them lighter.
    Tip: to sample the skin color, Option > click for Mac and ALT > click for PC. It is best to continually resample skin so tones are smooth.
  • Dark skin powder layer: Use a soft-edged paint brush, sample skin color and paint areas to make them darker.
    Tip: to sample the skin color, Option > click for Mac and ALT > click for PC.
  • Eye whites layer mask: Use a soft-edged paint brush, paint with white to whiten.
  • Color iris layer mask: Use a soft-edged paint brush, paint with white to saturate color.
  • Desaturate eyes & teeth layer mask: Use a soft-edged paint brush, paint with white to clean bloodshot eyes and teeth stains.
  • Eyeliner layer: Use a soft-edged paint brush, paint with black at about 25-50% opacity to burn dark areas of eyelashes and rim of iris.


Res Up or Res Down:
  1. Crop your image first to the correct proportions without changing the resolution.
  2. Go to Image > Image Size.
  3. Check the Resample Image and Constrain Proportions options.
  4. Enter your desired height or width (the other dimension will automatically change to match).
  5. Enter your desired resolution.
    Make a note of the resulting pixel dimensions at the top of the window. It will be the larger size to the left of the numbers in parentheses. This is you target image size.
  6. Close the dialog box WITHOUT clicking OK.
  7. set your info bar to show document size. This will help you to keep track of the file size as it grows.
  8. Play the desired res up action until you have gone one step past your target size.
  9. Undo your last step back one size.
  10. Go to Image > Image.
  11. Check the Resample Image and Constrain Proportions options.
  12. Type in the needed width or height and resolution.
  13. Click on the OK button.
  • Use the Res Up 5 or Res Up 10 effect to enlarge 110% five or ten times.


Certain actions provide additional instructions in the form of a dialog box. Once you become familiar with how each effect you use works, you may want to hide the instructions, allowing for an even faster workflow.

Show / Hide the Dialog box:
  1. Click on the Dialog Box icon next to the action name.
  2. Click OK.





Grow
A border is placed around your original image size increasing the image size.


Keep
The original image size is reduced to allow room for the border, keeping the image size the same as before the border action was run.


Group Layer
This layer is like a bucket of your image and border layers. You can drag this group layer onto an album design layout and as long as the Color Fill layer is turned off (no eyeball on the left), you will match the background of the page to the background of the border.


Color Fill Layer
Double-click on the icon that looks like it has a white box with a see-saw below it. If you click in this area it will bring up your color picker and allow you to choose the color of the outside border. Remember you can play the Invert Border Color action to invert the colors. Turn off the left hand eyeball, then drag your group layer to an album layout to use a bordered image without the exterior frame.


Get the most from your textures by following these few simple steps.

Change the Texture Mode:
  1. Apply a texture.
  2. Search change in the search window.
  3. Select and apply one of the Change Texture Blend effects.

Remove the Texture Color:
  1. Apply a texture.
  2. Search remove in the search window.
  3. Apply the Remove Texture Color effects.

Change the Texture Opacity:
  1. Apply a texture.
  2. Select the texture layer
  3. Increase or decrease the opacity.





Install the Presets & Profiles In Lightroom Classic
In Lightroom Classic, the easiest way to install Presets is via the “Import Presets” option:
  1. Switch to Develop mode.
  2. Under the Presets panel, click the “+” button and select “Import Presets”.
  3. Navigate to the folder of your presets OR your profiles.
  4. Select all the individual .xmp or .lrtemplate files in the folder.
  • Presets will automatically be installed in the correct locations and grouped by their collection name.


Apply the Profiles In Lightroom Classic
  1. Switch to Develop Mode.
  2. Profiles will show up under the Basic menu on the right side of the window.
  3. Click on the Profile Browser icon (4 little squares) to see all your Profiles.
  4. Scroll down to find the collection you installed.
  5. Hover over the preview icon to see the effect live on your image.
  6. Click the preview icon to apply it to your image.
  • You can undo the preset by immediately pressing CMD(CTRL)–Z.
  • You return an image to its original imported state at any time by typing CMD(CTRL) + SHIFT–R. This removes all adjustments, including Profiles and Presets.


Apply the Companion Presets In Lightroom Classic
These are designed to complement the Profiles, not to be used on their own.
  1. Apply a profile of your choice first.
  2. Open the preset collection folder.
  3. Apply a preset to alter or tune the image further. You can undo the preset by immediately pressing CMD(CTRL)–Z.
  • Presets will show up under the same Presets panel where imported.
  • Presets MAY alter some or all of your normal Lightroom adjustments, so you may want to fine tune the adjustments manually at this point.





Install the Install Presets & Profiles in Lightroom CC
In Lightroom CC, the easiest way to install Profiles is via the “Import Presets” option:
  1. Open the Edit panel.
  2. Click on the Profile Browser icon (little squares).
  3. In the “...” menu, select “Import Presets”.
  4. Navigate to the folder of your presets and your profiles.
  5. Select both the Presets and Profiles folders.
  • Presets and profiles will automatically be installed in the correct location and grouped by their collection name.



Apply the Profiles in Lightroom CC
  1. Scroll down to find the collection you installed.
  2. Hover over the preview icon to see the effect live on your image.
  3. Click the preview icon to apply it to your image.
  • You can undo the preset by immediately pressing CMD(CTRL)–Z.


Apply the Companion Presets In Lightroom CC
These are designed to complement the Profiles, not to be used on their own.
  1. Apply a profile of your choice first.
  2. Open the preset collection folder.
  3. Apply a preset to alter or tune the image further. You can undo the preset by immediately pressing CMD(CTRL)–Z.





You may install the LUTs in other NLE video software that supports LUTs.

Install the LUTs in Premiere Pro
  1. Open the Effects panel.
  2. In the top right menu, select Import Presets.
  3. Navigate to the Premiere Pro folder of your downloaded collection and select the “Storyteller Color Presets (vol).prfpset” file(s).
  4. Click OK.
    They appear in your Effects panel inside the Presets folder.
  5. Open the window wider and you also see a live preview of the effect.
  6. Apply the preset to your video per Premiere instructions.

Mac Install
  1. Close Photoshop.
  2. Open a Finder window and go to Applications > Photoshop > Presets > 3D LUTs.
  3. Move or paste your Storyteller 3DLUTs folders.
  4. Open Photoshop.


Windows Install
  1. Close Photoshop.
  2. Open a File Explorer window and go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop \Adobe Photoshop \Presets
  3. Move or paste your Storyteller 3DLUTs folders.
  4. Open Photoshop.


Load the Storyteller Helper Actions (Mac or Windows)
  1. Open your Actions paletter, go to Window > Actions.
  2. Click on the Actions palette menu, and select Load Actions.
  3. Navigate to the folder of your presets and your profiles.
  4. Select and load the Storyteller Helper Action file (.atn) for the collection you purchased.
  5. Open an image and click on any of the actions to apply the effect!
Once your action is loaded, you can easily search for it, mark it as a favorite, and instantly apply it using your Kubota DASHBOARD plugin. (See the DASHBOARD instructions for loading User Actions.)
